Accumulation

Accumulation is a supportive in-game action that implies the ability to steadily increase the total number of something the users own. They, for instance, can enrich themselves (both tangibly and spiritually) by increasing the amount of virtual currency, the number of pets, secrets revealed or rewards received.

An analog of accumulation is enrichment.

Strong effect

Consolidated accumulations represent one of the main features of success and wealth. Users do not only compete for the opportunity to stand out from the others, but they also become additionally immersed in the game through accumulation. The more in-game rewards the users have, the less likely they are to leave the game.

Weak effect

The accumulation may be seen as intrinsically valuable. However, the rewards are accumulated for their potential exchangeability or convertibility into something else. Therefore, the users will soon lose interest in what they have managed to accumulate when in-game accumulation has no purpose.

Interaction with elements from the Mechanics deck

Everything that can be purchased or gained can also be accumulated. Therefore, a user cannot accumulate ratings (only rewards granted for the win), common space, and guilds (unless the game implies the ability to consistently succeed in all guilds).
